Experience

Ten years of design experience across freelance, agency, and product work. Six years of experience designing and shipping solutions to consumers and enterprise users at public and private companies. Trusted partner for delivering high quality work during each phase of the process on high-risk, complex projects, for high-touch, key users.

  • Highly value design as craft. Excited about the details. Continuously deliver refined and polished designs that harmonize usability and aesthetics. Experience leading and contributing to design systems initiatives, such as scaling component libraries, creating guidelines, and defining contribution processes.

  • Confident balancing nuanced business needs with unique user needs, short-term in an agile, sprint setting, mid-term through yearly strategic planning, and long-term through storytelling, narrative, and vision setting.

  • Skilled at employing different modes of thinking (such as systems thinking) to identify and solve problems at any stage. Comfortable determining when to follow existing processes and rules versus when to challenge or evolve existing ideas and norms.

  • Able to identify problems, conceive ideas, and execute through each phase of the process to deliver value and move metrics. Leverage learnings from failed projects to strengthen intuition and execution strategies.

  • Six years of experience working alongside research partners and three years of experience facilitating most types of user research (provocation, generative, usability testing, etc) into syntheses that inform decisions, foster organizational alignment, and validate directions. Competent at using qualitative and quantitative data to test hypotheses, prioritize features, and measure success of projects.

  • Friendly, open designer. Enjoy collaborating with all roles to ensure diverse, high quality, shippable solutions. Experience working very closely with engineering to determine tradeoffs and ensure design quality on a daily basis. Comfortable working with difficult stakeholders internally or externally to make decisions, get buy-in, and satisfy goals.

  • Experience mentoring junior and mid-level designers on problem definition, ideation, confidence, systems thinking, and stakeholder management. Capable of facilitating discussion, diagnosing cultural challenges, instrumenting process changes, and providing upwards feedback. Continuously advocate for design excellence and buy-in. Confident public speaker and writer. Able to communicate well in small leadership meetings and large public settings.

Outside of work, I enjoy training for triathlons, reading philosophy, and writing music.
